Who we are

Liat AI is a company based in New York, NY, in the United States. In this policy, "Liat.ai", "we" and "us" mean Liat AI. We are responsible for the personal information described here.

This policy covers the website at liat.ai, including the blog, the demo and the pitch deck. Work we do for a customer under a contract is covered by that contract.

What we collect

When you contact us

If you email or call us, we receive your name, your email address or phone number, and whatever you choose to tell us or send us. If you send us a match, we receive that footage too. We use this to answer you and to run any pilot or trial you ask for.

When you sign up to the newsletter

If you sign up to our newsletter on the homepage, we receive your email address. We use it only to send you the newsletter. Our newsletter is sent with Kit (kit.com), which stores your address for us and sends you an email to confirm your subscription. Read the Kit privacy policy for how Kit handles it. Every newsletter has a link to unsubscribe.

Google Analytics, only if you accept

If you accept analytics cookies, the site uses Google Analytics to count visits and to see which pages people read. Google Analytics records the pages you open, how long you stay, the site that sent you here, your type of device and browser, and your approximate location. Google works out the location from your IP address, and Google Analytics does not store the IP address itself.

If you reject analytics cookies, Google Analytics does not load at all.

Information sent by your browser

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web server, GitHub receives your IP address when your browser asks for a page, and it may keep it in its logs for security. Read the GitHub privacy statement for how GitHub handles it.

The pitch deck loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when you open the deck.

The video on the site

Our video is hosted on YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press Play. When you do, the video plays from youtube-nocookie.com, and Google may collect information about how you watch it under the Google privacy policy.

You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings, which is also at the foot of every page. If you withdraw your consent, the analytics cookies are deleted.

Why we use it

Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR, we need a legal basis for each use of personal information:

• We use Google Analytics, and send you the newsletter, because you consented to it.
• We answer your messages, and keep the site secure, because we have a legitimate interest in doing so.
• We use information to run a pilot, a trial or a service because it is needed for the agreement we have with you, or for the steps you asked us to take before one.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the companies that provide the services described above: Google for analytics, fonts and video, GitHub for hosting, Kit for the newsletter, and our email provider. Each one handles it under its own privacy policy.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights.

Where it is stored

Liat AI and the services we use are based in the United States, so your information may be handled there. Where the law requires it, these transfers are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or by standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

• We keep emails and the details you send us for as long as we are talking with you or working together, and then for as long as we need them for our records.
• We keep your newsletter subscription until you unsubscribe. When you do, we stop sending you the newsletter.
• Google Analytics keeps visit data for fourteen months and then deletes it.
• We use footage you send us only for the work you asked for, and we delete it once that work is done. We do not keep it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
• correct it;
• delete it;
• stop using it, or use it less;
• send it to you or to another company in a form a computer can read.

You can also object to how we use it, and you can withdraw your consent to analytics or to the newsletter at any time. To do any of these, email contact@liat.ai. We will not treat you differently for asking.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom and you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

If you live in California, you have the right to know what we collect, to have it deleted and to correct it. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Children

The site is meant for businesses and is not aimed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the date at the top.
